So, I've got a backup I need restoring. It's about 400Gb off a monthly.
I've arranged the tapes, such that they're back from the vault.
I've arranged the storage so it's available.

I create a restore request, because there's about a days work there, and ... well we've a helpdesk who can do restore things, and I already arranged to offload this task (because I'm suffering from amazing shortages of time).

And then, 30 minutes later, I get the call right back again. Looks like they didn't even bother to read it before doing a fob off.

Talk to your (& their?) boss. Get them a bollocking, fobbing stuff off like that to overworked admins Is Just Wrong...

Heck, at our work place the NOC techs will fight for something that interesting & relevant to computers.... :-(

why bother with the over worked admin argument. Its they f****** job, they should bl***** well do it. Its not a measure of giving them a bollocking for annoying sys admins, its a bollocking for not doing their job :)
