Today it is a good day.

I've started to realise how much of an effect music can have on my mood and psyche.
I listen to Rammstein on the way to SINergy, and used to be a regular listener to classic FM.

I've since stopped, in favour of Radio 4. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan to Today on the way
to work, and PM on the way back. Gives me a nice handle on the world, given that I don't do newspapers
or TV. But you've got to admit, the endless march of tyranny, mayhem, terrorism, corruption and general
people being nasty to each other, whilst it's an important part of the world, is also really rather depressing.

In a fit of archers dodging (I was late on the way home on tuesday) I switched back to classic FM. And the next morning, didn't bother to change over. It left me feeling somewhat more enthusiastic and bouncy.

I think this is a good thing. And so come payday (friday) I shall be buying meself a DAB clock radio.
This will be a fine way to wake up each morning.

And on a completely unrelated note, in SINergy land, we have a minor religious sect called the Sons of Light. They've "adopted" one of the PCs as their new messiah. I've just scribbled a news article that's pointing out the Latin Translation of Light Bringer. For those that give a toss, the Light Bringer is Lux Ferre, which incidentally, is also the term applied to the morning star. It's also translated from the Hebrew as Lucifer.

Well, here's another role come up.

Almost stereotypical odious cameraman. For those who've played SINergy, remember 'Robin Banks'? Well, we can't get Chris to do it, but we're looking for a similar sort of character.

Anyone up for it? I also need to try and sort out some 'priest like robes' for next session. Ideally (and this is the difficult part) in purple.
I think Brother Hezrou needs to look the part... ;p

Well, so far this week I'd accumulated a few extra hours, because I was intending to clear off early today. Well, maybe not early, but at least 'as soon as I can'. Because today's the day that ADSL _should_ have arrived with all the bits I need to be online again.

Alas, it is not to be. I had forgotten that I'd arranged to do a Veritas upgrade and 'cluster node migration' starting at 2pm.

Mostly because I thought 'well, it's a cluster, so afternoon job, and away prompt ish'.

No.

You see, despite the fact that ya'know, the WHOLE POINT of a cluster is the resilience, that one node can take over from another, painlessly, we're informed that we're not allowed to 'degrade' service (eg. start work on the failover node) until 18:00.

Oh well, at least this one counts for system maint. money.

I wish it hereby noted that on this day, disaster was averted.

You see, fibre optic cables are one of the great boons of IT. They mean you can connect disk packs to computers more than just a couple of metres away - a singlemode fibre can be used at a distance of 10km.

But you see, they suffer from one drawback. Despite a high tensile strength, they're very prone to shattering. And there's nothing quite as frustrating as having spent 30 minutes in a computer room lifing the raised floor one segment at a time, laying a fibre, only to find that once reconnected, it's had a 'ping-fuckit' moment.

Thankfully, this didn't happen, and so a great tragedy was averted, as I didn't have to go and get a shotgun and chase around the office killing people.

This, I can only think, has improved my karmic alignment.

Or something.

FILM JUNKY

Well, it seems I've been slacking.
Quite a few films have snuck up on me, that I would be inclined to go and see.
I'd definitely like to see:
THE BOURNE SUPREMACY
KING ARTHUR

I'd quite like to go see (I don't hold high hopes, but it might be worth it just for the comedy value)

CATWOMAN
I, ROBOT
GARFIELD
THUNDERBIRDS

Unfortunately, the chances of me making Bourne Supremacy this evening for the preview are vanishingly remote, as we've an upgrade going on until about 20:00. But is anyone up for some quite shameless film-junkying? Showcase is IMO still the better of the two, but the odeon is conveniently close to a bar...

POETS day

Tomorrow is Poets day once more.
That means Beer at the pub, from about 19:00.

The pub in question, being the Beer Engine on Far Gosforth St.

Any takers?
