FILM JUNKY

Well, it seems I've been slacking.
Quite a few films have snuck up on me, that I would be inclined to go and see.
I'd definitely like to see:
THE BOURNE SUPREMACY
KING ARTHUR

I'd quite like to go see (I don't hold high hopes, but it might be worth it just for the comedy value)

CATWOMAN
I, ROBOT
GARFIELD
THUNDERBIRDS

Unfortunately, the chances of me making Bourne Supremacy this evening for the preview are vanishingly remote, as we've an upgrade going on until about 20:00. But is anyone up for some quite shameless film-junkying? Showcase is IMO still the better of the two, but the odeon is conveniently close to a bar...

Ooh. Do you have any idea when Catwoman is going to stop being shown? I have a plan to go with a bunch of people from a University society which will probably be more successful if I wait until term time, unless it's no longer on by then...

Unfortunately, I think most cinemas decide whether to keep showing something based on how many tickets they sell vs. the price the distributors are charging. Which is why some stuff (like Finding Nemo, and LoTR:RoTK) are still running, where others barely last the week.

I think Catwoman is destined to become one of the 'average' films that only last a week or two, but I'll reserve judgement on that until I've actually seen it...

It's the female bit of the lesbigay group. We're not going for the plot :)

Well, TBH I think Catwoman trades a lot on what's known as "the baywatch effect". Unfortunately, films that do, aren't typically noted for their longevity.

The problem is that Halle Berry just isn't attractive in any way, and given that all reports indicate the film is a steaming pile of manure in every other way too, I feel it is unlikely that I will ever see it of my own free will.

Agreed. I've read a review, which makes it pretty clear that the only thing the film has in comman with the comic book character is the catwoman name....

We are shallow and like the baywatch effect.

Well, yeah.
But ... I dunno, if it's ogling that one's seeking, the surely there's much more efficient ways than watching a mediocre film...

Hmm, wouldn't hold hope on Catwoman lasting. The IMDB verdict:
http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0327554/combined

2.8 out of 10, and #45 on the 'bottom 100 films'.

I don't regret seeing King Arthur, in fact I quite enjoyed it but I wouldn't rush for it a second time. Bourne Supremacy looks interesting.

Wild Ferrets in charge of Orbital Mind Control Lasers is the only way I'll see any of the other films

Well, of the others, "I, Robot" seems to have got a fairly high ranking on the IMDB, which I tend to view as a good indicator.

In a 'this film was inspired by, and we're not just going to dump all over his work' sort of way.

As a huge Asimov fan, I have to say this film worries me...

IMO, films that were 'inspired by' a book, should on no accounts be named after that book.

Watching the trailer makes me feel nauseous.

"Hmm? Do we stick to the story and ideas put forward by Asimov?"
"Hell no! We need ratings! Robots destroying the world!!"

*grrr*

That must be a slightly different trailer than the one I saw then. That went:

Stick to the short story, stick to the short story, Deviate Wildly for the other 70% of the film.
