Sorry. Just thought I'd make that clear.
Actually, it's not so much that I hate football, as I have a complete utter disinterest in The Match.

This is starting to become a problem, as workmates insist on discussing Runey (sp?) The Match and how Card Happy the refs have been.

Apparantly England won last night.

But I still don't actually care, I'd much rather be scooping my eyes out with a small plastic picnic spoon.

OK, I'll bite...

You'd rather we LOSE just so the hysteria would die down? Childish, frankly. Because YOU don't personally approve of something, you'd like to spoil the enjoyment of millions. Go you.

5 channels of TV spouting football? Wrong, you'll find. Channel 4, channel 5 and BBC2 have no football coverage for the European Cup. They may show extremely brief highlights in their news programs, but they'll be little more than 30 seconds. And even if they did... it's two weeks every four YEARS. For fucks sake, get yourself to Blockbuster.

Hooliganism? Contentious. Now, is hooliganism the fault of the GAME? I don't think so. Indeed, the FA tries immensely hard to distance itself from such talk. Let's say that football was banned tomorrow. The yobs that masquerade as fans will find other outlets for their loutish behaviour. The press is largely to blame, exaggerating stories with a british slant in order to sell papers. But then, believe what you want. I know that Euro 2004 has been relatively trouble free.

The high pay-level for football. Hmm... well, rightly or wrongly, there's a huge amount of money to be MADE in football. I for one am happy to see that cash go to the people who actually PLAY THE GAME, rather than faceless fat-cats who 'run' things (a la don king, boxing promotors etc). Whether the cash should be there in the FIRST place is another argument entirely, one I suspect we'd agree on.

Sad bastard flags on cars? I agree COMPLETELY.

What about the large riot in Birmingham? The one they had to draft extra police in for?

Knew I forgot to say something. Yes, Football isn't on all channels. A couple of others have Wimbeldon or Ascot on instead, channel 5 you'll be lucky to get at all, and the other one will have some standard TV dross on it (probably Big Brother. Ugh). Those who don't like watching sport Really Don't Care that there are different sports on, they all go under the banner of Sport, which to be honest, I think is how it should be. Only one channel showing sport at a time, perhaps two if you've got some big event on.

Me? I like watching some sports. Martial arts, fencing, sumo & oddly enough, bowls. The old british wrestling (Big Daddy era) used to be cool as well. Good luck finding any of them on TV these days!

Jousting is good to watch as well. Must find out where there's some on this summer....
