I suppose it comes around every so often when reffing a system of any size.

The evil munchkin pops up, and pushes stuff a little far.
Taking the letter of the rules, and uses them to beat the snot out of the spirit.

And then tries to do the reverse.

There's many variants of munchkin. This time have a Background Munchkin.

The Ed's abridged dictionary definition of the "Background Munchkin" is thus:

A player who writes stuff into their background to justify being able to do things IC.

I'm not talking about characterisation, or basic level 'stuff known' (eg. someone with a military background ranting about which type of bullet is most effective in a given situation). Or even trying to create plot based on your background (eg. because in your BG it says you were in a civil war somewhere, you pick fights or arrange assassination of members of the opposition).

No, it's "I work for a really big company, that makes everything and has lots of money, and so I have a private army that are all toting assault rifles, HMGs and heavy armour. Oh, and can buy anything I like, because I've got specialised skill in dealing with this company, and because they're really big they have access to everything" that I find offensive.

Both as a Ref, and a Player (although in the latter case, it's often less visible).

Oh well, the Munchkin in question has had a partial tactical stomping. And might get more of one.

Thankfully, there are also other Refs who are "good" at dealing with the problem. Cos I'm not very good at the "Stop being a sick munchkin fuck".

Ah well. Price ya pay innit.

Why am I thinking of a certain person who's character has a surname beginning with T and a deceased brother (who also had the same background) :)

Nah, it's CC who's really pushing the envelope, if the boards are anything to go by...

I'm sorry, I can neither confirm nor deny speculation about identities.
