Well, it seems there's a result on the 'bad chatup lines' poll.

We had 6 people say they had used a chatup line (despite having 7 answering the 'did it work' - [livejournal.com profile] jambon_gris you're messin' with my polls).

5 of which were reportedly successful, 2 of which weren't.

There was also a male/female division, with the men much more likely to accept a bad chat up line.

(4 out of 13 from the male side of the fence would reject the offer, 8 out of 12 from the female side).

So statistically speaking, if you're female, trying to use a bad chatup line to pick up blokes is relatively likely to work.

Always assuming that my sample is any way approximating a 'normal' population of course :)

Duh. That's like saying the sun rises in the East. GENERALLY, if you're female, pretty much anything would work to pick up a bloke. Fluttered lashes? Pick up. Insincere flattery? Pick up. Asking him if he likes her shade of nail varnish? Pick up. Nose picking? Questionable. But if she washes her hands, it's a likely pick up. ;)

Well, yes. A somewhat obvious conclusion I know.
Then again, I don't think there were ever going to be any profound insights into human behaviour from a 'bad chatup line' poll.

Obvious conclusion, yes. Profound insights, no. I agree with you completely.

However... give me an opportunity to make a cheeky comment and I'm all over it. I couldn't resist. ;)

Did I tell you the story about Nat (same girl from the Kodak moment) out driving one sunny afternoon, windows down, stopped at a red light? Well, she hears a beep from the car next to her. This fellow leans across and yells out his window to her: "Is that seat belt custom made?" She of course replies, "Er, no."

Ready for it?

"I thought it must have been, because it's huggin' your curves like you wouldn't believe!"

Luckily, the light turned green and she sped off.

Did I mess with your poll, not by design (shuks didnt think of that.
For the record I have tried bad chat up lines. I tried "Nice boots" last witby and survived,
and there was of course "I suppose a blow jobs out of the question" which wasnt really a bad chat up line as id been trying v hard for quite a while before then. (The second worked the first didnt)
