Amber

Let me introduce myself.
My name is Ramius, and I'm a sorceror. I spent most of my early years hanging around the courts of chaos, which is where I picked up a thing or two about sorcery.
I was also sort of adopted by one of the families whilst I was there.

It was certainly an interesting place to grow up, but about the point where people started to notice me was also about the point where people started trying to kill me. I've no real head for the game playing going on around the courts, and no real reason to stick around, so I left.

I was actually somewhat curious about our late king, and went in search of a shadow similar to the one where he lived for many years. Now the timeline in the shadow that he knew as earth has moved on, but the place is sufficiently real to be casting it's own shadows.

This is where I have been living for the last couple of years. It's actually quite interesting. I'm starting to appreciate some of Merlin's later philosophies (and sense of humour).

Sorcery works well enough, and proved most useful. It has meant that I had more than enough time to persue my own interests.

Whilst I was off in another shadow doing a spot of mountain climbing, I was called away to act as part of a delegation to Amber.

It seems that Suhuy had "important business" and that I'm expected to take his place. Now I'm not entirely sure why, since I'm certainly not qualified, but suspect that certain amongst the courts are reminding me that I have obligations.

Amber was one of these places that I decided it would be wiser to steer clear of. Whilst they've no especial reason to object, it's certainly the case that Amberites have no special liking from those who grew up in the Courts. And more than enough power to make their objections felt.

Visiting Amber with diplomatic credentials at least means that I've less to fear in terms of an overt attack. One might say that it's a golden opportunity to play tourist.

So anyhow, it's off to Amber, to join the delegation from the Courts. I've only been there a short while. Met a few interesting characters, namely Bleys, Gerard, Tremayne and King Uther. They seem like quite a reasonable bunch, although several I know and trust (at least as far as one does) have suggested that I want to be very careful. I suppose that's true enough - after all, whilst there's a peace accord we are from different ends of reality.

There's a few things I'd be interested in looking at. The castle library has been recommended as well worth a look.

I think I shall try and avoid getting in trouble, and look around. I'd rather like to go see the Pattern, but I expect that's about as likely as being crowned King of Amber. Not to mention it possibly being somewhat a health risk.

Well, I guess I will just wait and see what happens.
