Repeat after me. Sonic screwdriver is a lock pick. A plot device to shortcut the process of the doctor getting into trouble. It is not a magic wand. Magic wands are lame. 'soniccing' everything is not a substitute for a decent plot.

But really. Your house has electricity, but no communications. How do you think 'telephones' work? That's right. By sending electricity down wires.

And sending away the woman with weapons, only to later suggest that you're planning to zap whatever it is with a sonic screwdriver?
Oh, and when said sonic screwdriver is also responsible for turning everything that looks like a video camera into an awesome perimeter monitoring system? As the man said in the last episode: Do me a favour.
