Declaration of Intentions regarding Maelstrom

Well, with dates published, and time booked as hols, Maelstrom fast approaches.
Well, not that fast, but I'm notionally roped into assisting with hosting on the first ome, so it's fast.

My intentions being, this year, to book a spot in the LRP hotel. (Edit: They are doing it - same as previous years, but no bar this time - just a 'lounge' tent.)
To arrive generally 'the day before' (e.g. the Thursday) and try and have a day after for recovery, chilling out, unpacking (maybe :p) and noodles.

I may have car space available on the way to event for passengers and maybe some of their stuff, but I'm going to be less reliable on that one than previous years - there may be another person who decides to give it a go, and they'll take priority. But there's not really a great deal of point having empty space in my car, so whatever ;).

At event, I'm thinking that 'Jag'll fix it' might be quite an entertaining set of shenanigans, but as always, plans tend to go kablooy shortly after time ine.

That's the general notion - kind of one of those simple plans that will be easy to execute, and yet generate entertainment and roleplay all around.

At least, in theory.

But certainly, if you, or anyone else has ideas of how to make this really work, then I'd love to hear 'em.

At the moment, I'm thinking in terms of 'some kind' of big banner in tawdry bright colours (and gold, in homage to primus), and maybe 'something' like a portable confession booth of some kind...

And focus more on 'helping them fulfil their desires' rather than going and doing it for them. Because y'know, that'll stop some of the more... annoying kind of things someone might suggest.

And for bonus points, it doesn't even need people to initiate to join the fun - I figure backtracking on that, and working on just ... sort of laying the ground work, and generally working on PR might be a new tack to try - I _think_ I've done ok at picking out the people I could wheedle into it, but now there's 'everyone else' to work on.

And besides, last couple of events have been a little on the slow side, as I sort of alternate between lurking, and getting dragged into shenanigans by Primus.

I think the simpler the better because there will always be players hell bent on making it difficult and complicated.

If you are getting a grass skirt then you need a coconut to drink out of with an umbrella and an slice of citrus and two straws and possibly one of those sparkley coctail sticks. :)

Don't ask why but I do have a coconut bra somewhere... it's free to a good Jaguarite but may require some strap fixage. And also something on the inside to feel less fuzzy!

Which is a pity, and you'll certainly be missed. But also in part why I'm starting a little early on herding the cats :).

I've managed to get my holiday for the 2-4th events booked already (which technically I shouldn't yet as that in the next holiday year). Got the Thursday-Monday booked on all 3 of them. The first event is a little different though. Can't get time off on the Thursday so will have to travel Friday morning, and I'll be leaving "early" so I can shower/change and head to Devon for my Mum's wedding on the Tuesday.

I do want to LRP hotel again, but I guess we need to discuss that.

I was thinking Lyrus tent - if A comes along, she has her own tent anyway, and ... well, if I pay up, and just end up not sleeping there, I feel less guilty about using the facilities :)
