I was speaking to a few people recently, about dancing lessons.
They're starting a 'new sequence' of beginners stuff next week. Starting with ... erm, I can't remember quite what it was called, but it was a slightly different style, Balboa as an intro lesson.
The week after they'll be moving onto 'strolls', and I did check with the instructor guy, and it's suitable for beginners.

I usually aim to get there about 20:00, and if anyone wants a lift, I'm sure it can be arranged. Fee is a fiver, and they usually do beginners, 'open practice', intermediates, 'open practice', strolls.

(Open practice being simply 'music playing, dance floor is there, and have a pint if you feel so inclined')

It's kinda fun, and they're kinda friendly.

Next week's a Balboa taster, followed by the normal Swing intermediate lesson.

Not sure whether it's going to be 'Pure Bal' or 'Bal-Swing', as the Wikipedia page mentions two distinct styles - not sure the difference would really register with me at this point, mind you...

It stuck in my head because of Rocky... :)

Happy birthday (slightly in advance), anyway! And have a great weekend in your quiet, peaceful field...

I have to admit I'm interested, but the fact that I'm on a rotating shift pattern is liable to be problematic with such things :/

Well, there's always a recap of the previous week. And both courses (beginners and intermediate) are on a permanent loop, so there are chances to catch up...

The beginners' course is structured, but relatively brief - if you miss weeks they can help, and if you like it then I'd suggest you repeat the course anyway, as you'll pick up different things the second time.
