My current plan of action for Maelstrom goes something like this:
Thursday:
Get out of bed.
Pack car.
Bimble over to Adam/Jude's
Load more stuff/people.
Go have lunch at Farmhouse Newlands probably (maybe. Noodlebar is an option too, but parking gets a bit more complicated)
Bimble around go outdoors if there's anything last minute.
Head off to Maelstrom
Unload kit, go shopping.
Spend thursday evening drinking to the fact that I've passed another decade.

We have refined the plan to a fine art.

Incidentally, Noodlebar parking should be easy - it'll be middle of a weekday therefore there will be loads of space in our road, as long as we use permits. Outside the jobcentre and that little carpark, less so.

The Newlands up the road from the Taylors is also a good option for pub grub.

Yes newlands pub is very good, does "fat bastard" mixed grill o doom... for very reasonable price..

only downside is that its not next to go-outdoors:)

Hmm, I think I'd be inclined to give that one a try. Farmhouse has been a little disappointing, and it fulfils the criteria (presumably) of acceptable pub grub, and a place to gather folk together. And not too far out the way.

Which is nice.

Sounds like the start of a very pleasant weekend!

I'd definitely be up for a pre 'strom lunch, if it fits in with Robin's plans and my pile of baking :)

I'm never a sure fixture at the pre-'strom lunch. It depends on how I'm doing with packing, getting ready, etc.

This time, I'm erring on the less likely to make it, since I've got a couple of things to do outside of generalised Maelstrom Prep.

That was our plan too mostly. Can walk to Newlands from ours :)

Walking distance is good, but depends a little on how parking is. I seem to recall I'm often blocking driveways when loading the estate for Maelstrom.

There is that issue, but we live further up and there's both less driveways and more space on our road during the week. The newlands has a carpark too anyway.
