Small/Medium/Large

If you do 3 sizes of something, say, pizza.
Then the correct sizes to be serving in, is NOT:
Medium, Large, Super.

It's 'Small, Medium, Large'.
Damnit. A 'small' pizza is not a scary thing, to be omitted from your menu.

Just go in, ask for a "small" pizza, and when they say they can't sell you one, say "Oooh, well, a 'medium' would be too big for me" and walk out again.

Their medium, the smallest of their pizzas, might well be too big for someone who wants a small pizza.

So yes, do that.

Even if they almost never sold any pizzas described as small, but now sell well of both medium, large or super?

Even if their 'medium' pizza is about the size that most people would associate with a medium pizza, rather than a small one, their large being the size people associate with a large pizza, and their super being bigger than that?

Well, they give the diameter in inches in this case as well. "Medium" being a 10" is definitely what most would call small. Their "Large" is 13", which is definitely a medium size by any sensible account.

I'll give them that the 16" counts as an extra large though.

Even worse are the pretentious coffee shops that dispense with english and go for things like "tall" "grande" and other rubbish.

I always make a point of asking for a small, medium or large and woe betide the monkey behind the counter that thinks that I should order in the manner used by their company.
