Mobile phones, GPS and dynamic updates
Sep. 24th, 2008 08:17 pmI'm thinking of an application that runs on my phone.
It lets me search 'near me' for stuff.
It lets me take a photo, geotag it, write some text, categorize it, and upload it. Y'know, things like 'here is a nice indian restaurant, try the onion bhajia it's lovely' and put a rating by it.
Other people can also hook onto my doing so, and upload their own review/picture or whatever, and see what I've described.
It's possible this application already exists - does anyone know what it's called? I've seen elements of it on google maps, with the 'search near here' and ability to post photos and stuff, but it's still not _quite_ there.
Y'know, in true hitch hikers guide fashion, it would be awesome to be able to upload a quick review of the restaurant you've just been to.
Or to be able to say 'well, I'm near a cathedral thing, is there a handy article in e.g. wikipedia about it'.
Or 'well, I fancy a curry right now, what's the best curry place within a 2mile radius'
