At work, on the standard contract that I have, there's a flexible start and finish system. It's basically flexitime, where the core hours (IE the ones you _have_ to be in for) are 08:30 - 16:00 (Our standard hours are 08:00 to 16:30).

Essentially, what this means is over a standard range of employees - those not trying to clock up extra time to bugger off early on friday, work a range of hours, between 07:30, and 17:00. And my boss has noticed this. And he has noticed that the 3 of us on the 'core' server team, are very much at the 08:30 to 17:00 side of the scale. I don't like getting out of bed, and I often have fairly late nights with roleplay games, or just doing stuff. Oh, and I live 20 miles from work.

But my boss wants 'one of us' to be in at 07:30, and coverage to be available until at least 17:00. OK, I suspect we could do a rota for it. Or otherwise amend our lifestyle. But I'm not convinced I like the idea. I mean, everyone else gets flexible start and finish. I have it as part of my contract of employment. To be asked (it is still at the 'asked' stage at the moment) to yield that, well, I don't see that the 3 of us are any less entitled to pick our start and finish times.

Not quite sure how I feel about that. I suspect it'll happen, but I think I should be negotiating for compensation...
