Yes, but you have to use itunes (which I won't have anywhere near my machine) and you won't be able to download any of the tracks from the ipod to another machine, because Apple hate you.
What’s the problem with Itunes. I use it but mainly because I’ve always used it. Would you perhaps have any suggestions for something better – both in Ipod and PC capacity?

1: Plug it into the USB port, the computer should then automatically recognize it as a USB flash drive. 2: Copy MP3 files into the directory on the drive where the unit will look for MP3s to play. The unit's software should allow for nested directories. 3: Disconnect from computer and listen to music.
iPods require proprietry software to achieve something that can be done by the damned OS. This is fail. Also you cannot copy your music from an iPod to another machine. This too is fail.
Yes and no - unless I've been missing something the iPod itself will only play its proprietary format, but iTunes will happily convert any mp3s you have ready to play.
Nah, I've ripped tracks off an iPod and they're perfectly good mp3s. You just have to do it without the software installed so you can actually see the drive

Buy Creative instead, they treat their mp3 players as a USB drive. You just drop the files on it and it works. Like it should.
