I went to Maelstrom this weekend. It was great.
From the moment of arrival at the LRP hotel (which is a wonderful idea) the event really was excellent fun. There seemed to be a lot of activity from various groups, which kept things ticking over. Personally, I managed to speak to a lot of people, and ... well, the Jaguar is gaining in strength. I think. I'm actually pretty curious as to how many people at the event were actually followers of Jaguar, as I ran into ... well a few.
Conversion rates were fairly good. To my knowledge more initiates than any other event so far. Although it wasn't a personal highscore, due to there seemingly being suddenly rather a few more priests.
Ash, as Primus was as ever, horrifically terrifyingly amazing. Ran into several more Eidolons though too, which made things ... well interesting really.
Have a few ideas for next event, which might be interesting - Jaguar seems to be gaining enough of a following that _actually_ trying to do a 'church' might even work. Then again, strength through diversity is also quite useful, as I'm thinking that a certain amount of attention has been gained. Perhaps looking to forming 'Jaguar warriors' squad or something, but I've no idea if that'd even work :).
Highlights of the event? Well, hearing a lot of rumours about how incredible Thorn is. And providing entertainment for the ref team in the form of renditions of the various Jaguar hymns. There's a few people with a measure of musical talent who have joined us, which might mean they go up in quality...
Hearing someone who plays a flembic gentlewoman compaining about how the 'Oh Jaguar' had caught in her head was really amusing :).
Making some inroads on the preaching, including some training of relatively new priests (and priestesses) was definitely interesting and amusing though. I think that was the most new initiates to Jaguar this event. Personally I didn't do quite as well, but then there were a few more of us 'out working'.
The 'native faith' meeting was also very interesting, as was the secondhand report of what actually happened there. (Let's just say some of what happened got somewhat exaggerated in retelling)
But all in all, a truly splendid event, even if I did pretty much just wipe out on the last day. Many thanks to all involved, including the ones I didn't run into to say hello to. (Either IC or OC :))

Date: 2007-04-20 01:02 am (UTC)I'm Ian, who plays Ghostdance (new Jaguar eidolon, only with less bling than Ash... LAST TIME -- but I plan to out-peacock him next time if I possibly can...).
I've set up a Jaguar worshippers' mailing list here:
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/secret_cult_of_jaguar/
Feel free to join -- it's invite only ATM to maintain the whole "secret" bit, but if you mention who you are on your membership request, I shall of course add you right away.
Well done on the whole "initiating half the camp" bit. ;)
