Todays new annoyance is:
As someone's leaving, e.g. just going out the door, call out them in a 'I just remembered something before you go' kind of way.
Try and time is so they have to come back in the door, and ideally over to your desk.
Then ask "so, how far would you have got if I hadn't called you back". Works best when they're about to go out for lunch, or off home.

Trust me, 's very silly but works a treat (the first few times at least).

If Peter hasn't already read this, I'll have him screaming blue murder at me tonight! *evil grin*

Jude is a master of this trick - She will sit in the same room as me, in silence, for hours. As soon as I step outside the door (or occasionally when I'm halfway up the stairs) she'll quietly say something that sounds important.

I used to get this unintentionally (I hope unintentionally, anyway) from Mum when I was living at home.

We'd be sitting downstairs. I would go into the kitchen, pour myself a drink, grab a bag of crisps or a yoghurt with the other hand, walk back through the living room, have one foot on the stairs and then:

'Get me a drink while you're up, will you?'

It's masterful. Not only am I further away than she is, I have my hands full so I can't even take her empty glass without putting something down somewhere. Had she but asked ten seconds earlier there would have been no difficulty at all.

Call me mean, but I consider it an inmposition when someone asks you to do a favour for them and it's more difficult for you to do than them.

This trick has been used so many times at our work now that it is definately considered old. Not one to try too often any more :)
