Centralised Computing
Systems Architect

Vacancy has arisen within the Centralised Computing Stream for a systems architect in implementing IT based business and technical projects. The person will be pro-active and customer facing and will therefore be able to gain valuable knowledge and experience enabling the organisation to meet its business objectives.
In addition this role will provide technical support to the centralised computing team and manage/assist in the implementaion of infrastructure projects as necessary. Additional skills in project management, documentation & security are also sought.

Key areas of responsible for this role will include:-
 Provide Technical solutions for Business Systems.
 Design amd Implement infrastructure projects.
 Management of infrastucture projects.
 Prioritising and scheduling work.
 Identification of resource requirements.
 Provide 2nd and 3rd line support to other streams.
 Improvement of services and technical infrastructure.
 Liaise and co-ordinate activites with Customer services Management team.

The successful applicant will be an excellent technical problem solver embracing a wide range of technologies, able to work under pressure and willing to work outside of normal hours at short notice. At least 3 years experience of Windows NT/2000 administration or UNIX operating system is necessary, whilst a working knowledge of Networking and commincations, would be an advantage.

Candidates should be qualified to degree level and have experience of working in a datacentre environment.
In addition the successful applicant will possess good oral and written communication skills and will be used to working in a customer facing environment.

A vacancy has arisen within the Centralised Computing Stream for a team leader to manage, administer and maintain the UK UNIX server farm, VMWare, Storage and backup, and local area networks. The role is to lead a team of systems administrator to ensure that the services are delivered to customer satisfaction. In addition this role will provide technical support to the centralised computing team and manage/assist in the implementation of infrastructure projects as necessary. Additional skills in project management, documentation & security are also sought.

Key areas of responsible for this role will include:-
 Day to day support and manage a team of systems administrators.
 Management of Local area network.
 Management of infrastucture projects.
 Prioritising and scheduling work .
 Identification of resource requirements.
 Provide 2nd and 3rd line support to other streams.
 Management of Datacentre activities.
 On-call support during out of hours.
 Improvement of services and technical infrastructure.
 Liaise and co-ordinate activites with Customer services Management team.
 Team Mentoring

The successful applicant will be an excellent technical problem solver embracing a wide range of technologies, able to work under pressure and willing to work outside of normal hours at short notice. At least 3 years experience UNIX (Sun Solaris, IBM AIX preferable) administration, whilst a working knowledge of Windows, Networking and commincations, would be an advantage.
