Productivity

I've been frighteningly unproductive today. I got in about 8am. Did the usual coffee and email thing. Then got sent to one of our other sites, in Wolverton. Spend an hour or two faffing there, came back and had lunch, and have just got back in. So, useful work today would be ... maybe the next 50 minutes or so, until 3pm when I go home.

The trip to wolverton, you see, was to change a backup tape. Clearly, an important and essential thing to happen, but I still can't help but feel it's a major waste of time.

I have been a tad unproductive this whole week. I got in at 1015 today (my manager is on holiday this week). Changed the backup tapes, finished installing a couple of Linux boxes and signed off a load of logs that were nothing to do with me.

I was so tired on Wednesday that I forgot both the Union Committee meeting and my driving lesson. I now have to distribute about 100 copies of a flyer about us going on strike on Tuesday.

I've had a hard working and stressful week but have achieved absolutely nothing! I've been doing something for a week that should have taken a couple of days but because it failed it's taken far longer than it should. I was quite pissed off but these things happen. Can't sit around feeling sorry for myself so just got on with it. I'll just have to be more careful next time.

Anyway at least they're paying you to waste your time. The more time I waste the less results I get and the weaker my thesis. Either that or I'll just have to work into an unfunded 4th year which I've now decided is inevitable. C'est la vie.
