Saturday, a possey wnt to see Jerry Springer the Opera at the Hippodrome in Birmingham.
It has a certain amount of contraversy surrounding it. Haveing seen it all the way through for the first time, I can see why.

You see, it's got "some strong language". Which isn't entirely true. It has an awful lot of swearing. Interestingly, none of it spoken.
"What the fuck, what the fuck, what the fucking fucking fuck" is a sample of one of the lyrics :).

I think that's not the 'big deal' with the show. I think the fact that they have Jesus and Satan on Jerry Springer. Satan ( who is a "cunting cunting cunting cunting cunt" ) wanting an apology for being cast down.
Jesus being a black guy, wearing not many clothes, who admits to being 'a bit gay'.
And God with a song about how "it ain't easy being me".

That said, if the above wouldn't really offend you especially, then go see it. It's a good show, very entertaining, and funny.

And unlike the usual case, the programme is also worth the £4 they charge for it ;).

However I'm still not entirely sure whether the protestors with their 'OMG this is terrible' leaflets were actually more entertaining than the Opera itself or not.

Just wondering why me & Ian didn't hear about this? Would've been nice to have at least been invited...

Sometimes an open invite is issued to an event you don't mind how many people turn up to. For other affairs, you arrange a select list, out of expediency. Transport, free space, or people you get along with well, or just because certain people happened to be about on a particular day.

However at the end of the day, no one is obliged to extend their social life to include anyone else.

Aware of this, just felt a little upset & left out as we seem to be being excluded from most things, trips, RPing, etc... About the only social thing we've seen a mention of would be the V-Day meal... Everything else is 2nd-hand knowledge... Usually when Robin and/or Tristan disappear off to something...

If we aren't specifically being excluded, fair enough, but I seem to be being less wanted around since me & Tristan split, which isn't the nicest feeling...

Adam had been trying to encourage people to go and see JSTO since about October last year. Said plan was announced repeatedly from then onwards on numerous occasions via both LJ and people talking in the pub (as well as other places I'm sure). It was then booked about a month or so ago. There was (as far as I am aware) no attempt to exclude people from this, but you really can't expect Adam to phone everyone he knows in Coventry to ask them if they actually want to go to things.

To carry on to such things as Roleplay, if it's happening at someone elses house and being run by someone else, it's not our responsibility to invite you. Neither your housemates or I have the authority to invite you to a game in such circumstances. I cannot comment on behalf of others, but I have certainly not been "specifically excluding you".

It was mentioned here.
I organised JStO for people who had expressed an interest - to me - in going after this first post, and then issued an open invite to everyone on my friend list.

I originally knew you through Sci-fi, then as Tristan's girlfriend, and then randomly at LARP events.
Now, over the past year or so, you've split from Tristan, split from Lyrus, and split from SINergy. As such, there's very little we have left in common.

Most of my entries tend to be friends-only, and due to the reasons above, you're not on my friends list. Apart from this fact, there was no specific exclusion. No-one was told not to tell you, and no-where did it state 'except Clare'. As I linked at the beginning of this post, the original invite was open to all.

okay.. I shall try to be as tactful as I can about this ...

Have you considered that since you have been going out with Ian you haven't exactly been very "in" with the Cov lot not becuase of your status with Tristan but becuase you no longer turn up and participate in the social cov-lot activities as you once did... You understandably spent a lot of time out of coventry and in Nottingham, and when you have been in Coventry you have not exactly been in touch with everyone else.. I'm affraid if you don't do the social thing then you miss a hell of a lot of information being passed around.

Its not anyones "fault" its just the way the social group works... If you don't put in socially you don't get out socially. If people don't know your interested then they won't invite you to things.. and if you don't get involved then you won't know all the gossip.. Robin and Tristan "go out to play" so they get to play in the cool games..

The trip to Jerry was discussed adnausem through out the group since before christmas.. both at breakfast, at the pub...
