Village hotel:
Sign up fee: £35 + £15 for 'inital assessment' of health and fitness (repeat 6 month later)
Gold Membership: £49 per month. Unlimited visits, 06:30 to 22:00 7 days a week.
Off-Peak gold: £35 Unlimited visits, 08:00 - 17:00 Monday - Friday, All day weekends.
Silver: £19/month, + £3.50/visit.

(Silver is cheaper until you visit more than 8 times per month, however Gold has the luxury of not having to think about that).

There's assorted fringe benefits of membership, the only one I've ever used is the 20% discount at various eateries around the hotel. However there's stuff like cheaper admission to tourist attractions, and priority queuing at a couple of the clubs around Cov.

Thanks :o)

The Silver one sounds like an option, although I'm not impressed by the sign-up fee. Plus, I have no desire to have a test to tell me how unfit I am. I wonder if they're doing any January offers? I know quite a few gyms try to entice everybody in in the new year, so I'll call them tonight to find out.

Was talking to my mum and she says she's happy to help me out with gym fees if I really do want to get fit, but I'd still like to be sure.

It's not so much a 'you're unfit' as a way of introducing you to what they can do. And of course, measuring how much it 'helped' in 6 months time.
I went, had a blood pressure and heart rate monitory thing, and had a nice chap show me all the stuff I was interested in in the gym area, and put together a program for me. I've roughly stuck to it, although the numbers have changed somewhat ;)

It was helpful for specific direction to the bits I wanted to work on - there's a lot of options at a gym - cardio vascular to improve heartrate/blood pressure. Weight sets/exercises to build muscle. Different weight sets and exercises to build 'tone', and to adjust fat levels in different parts of the body.

Of course, I figured I'd just be going swimming but have done a whole load of other things since :)

I still have my off peak gym membership from Warwick District Council which is £20/month. That was for gym access in Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth. Similar hours to the above.

How much was the offpeak gold?

That is somewhat tempting.

Except I have no money.

It may be time to invoke parents.

Yes, but not many also have a swimming pool.
