Ya'know, there's a few actors who just their name on the cast list counts as 'good enough' for me to want to go and see the films.

Kevin Spacey is one. (Negotiator, LA confidential, Life of David Gale, American Beauty ... )
Johnny Depp another. (Pirates, Chocolat, erm.. )
Probably Brad Pitt gets on that list too. (Snatch, Fight Club)

Angelina Jolie probably does too, but for slightly different reasons.

Are there any others that you can think of, who are both good, and sufficently choosey that you can be confident any film they're in will be good? That you'd go and see, just because you know that they're in it?

I'd say Keira Knightley but I have, in fact, failed to go and see all of her recent films.

Took me a while to pick up on the name, because it sounded familiar. Then I realised it was from Labyrinth. (And a few films since)

Quite a few films since. And many of them are excellent.
And the ones that aren't, she's still nice to look at.

Alan Rickman (other that Truely, Madly, Rubbish can you think of a bad film he's been in?)

(Also Anthony Hopkins, but thats more in an Angelina Jolie way, in that I'll go see anything with him in even if its rubbish (Titus Andronicus anyone!))

Jodie Foster and Julianne Moore, though that could be my Silence of the Lambs fascination. And I love Gillian Anderson, although she hasn't been in many films. And Hugh Grant, just to be a bit soppy. I like him best when he's playing a bit of an arrogant arsehole. I would definitely agree with the Johnny Depp thing, despite being somewhat nonplussed last night by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. All good people. Tom Hanks, though less fanciable than the others I've mentioned, seems to equate to films I like, too.

Nobody's mentioned John Cusack. Er, except me.

I'm tempted to mention Brian Blessed too, but Star Wars kind of tainted that one. :)

I find Brendan Fraser is an interesting film talent... I've seen him play everything from goofey simpleton to raving psychotic monster....

Believe It or Don't, I like every film that Seann William Scott has been in :) I won't say they are the highest caliber of films, but they are *enjoyable*
