Well, that was wierd.
Verdict? No point with the contact lenses, they wouldn't make any difference, because my eyesight has improved again.
In fact, if it weren't for the fact I already had them he probably wouldn't bother recommending glasses, as my eyesight is near enough 20/20 as is.
I can't deny that I could read (admittedly with a _little_ effort) that bottom row on his lil' chart. (And apparantly 'driving' is 3rd from the bottom, which I could do easily).

Which is weird.

I'm sure I do still see better with glasses, so I'm not entirely sure...

Maybe I'd better fish out some paperwork for notifying the DVLA that I don't need corrected vision.

The thing you need to realise about 20/20 (or 6/6, if you want to be all metric about it) is that it's actually not that good. I have significantly better than 20/20 vision after correction, I had significantly better than 20/20 vision with the contact lens too - but I couldn't stand how blurry they made the world.

What's your prescription? You should be able to get corrective contacts anyway, shouldn't you? Opticians all seem to think if you can read the bottom line it's good enough; I beg to differ.

Erm. My prescription had dropped down a bit.
My vision is definitely better with the glasses on.

*shrug*.

Might just pop to another optician for a second opinion.

Just a thought. Sometimes your vision gets used to its current circumstances and takes time to adjust. You might find if you don't wear the glasses your vision will perk up.

I can recommend Michael Harris on Earlsdon High Street.

Indeed, I always assumed that "20/20" was 'perfect' but clearly (sic) it's not.

Hmmm.
