I have come to the conclusion, long ago, that I don't like 'loud music pubs'. Unfortunate, it would appear that the Beer Engine is turning into one. I can't really fault them, as it does appear to improve business.
But I'm not convinced they shall be keeping mine.

This week I shall be heading to the Nursery on Friday, at about 19:00. And I shall have a few Beers. You're all welcome to join me.

Tis a shame that the Beer Engine has become a tad too noisy. I did like the place a lot. Still, at least the Nursery does decent cider :)

In what sense is it load music? Are we talking live or stereo behind the bar? In either case, if you express your concerns to Ian/Bill you will probably be listened to (although it may not make a difference).

On the plus side, going to the nursery will save me money as I'll probably only have 1 pint at most coz I'll probably end up driving :P

In the sense that each time I've been there for the past couple of months conversation has effectively been squiiiiished by noise from bands, djs or just their hi-fi pumping it out.

I like the Beer Engine, although the noise levels have become annoying. But the whole not being kicked out at 11.30 makes it worthwhile to me.

Opening late is a definite plus point, but...

When the music is so loud you can't talk to someone across the table form you, it's a problem.

I guess loud music pubs are good for people who have difficulties maintaining conversation.

If I have to shout over the bar to order a drink, I'd rather just find a different pub.

[end of rant]
