Just had a very funny pop up window appear. It's for Shaadi Marriage arrangement services. Well, I suppose mail order brides aren't anything new, but ... well it just seems so organised.

The BBC are reporting on Microsoft's code leak.
Now there's a good and valid argument that it's copyright material, and that's a naughty thing to do. Microsoft's case is nothing to do with that,
and it's all about how Evil Hackers (tm) might get it, and use it to destroy the world, rape everyone female, burn down indian villages and _then_ compromise a few computers. Errm. What?
Code is published for things like Linux, and encryption algorithm. This is in the belief that it promotes better code, and peer review means that flaws are noticed. Of course, with the source code, it's easier to spot flaws. The important point is though, that THE FLAW ALREADY EXISTS and is just being exploited. If your algorithm works, and is robust, then it's irrelevant if someone knows how passwords are figured out, or the encryption is calculated. Because there's nothing they can do about it.

Also on the BBC, last night an article about Hit and Run drivers. Sigh, I swear they're getting worse. They guy has had his sentence cut, because one of his sentences was longer than it should have been. This was the crime of failing to report an accident. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but surely that's manslaughter. And I'd assume that the _reason_ there was no manslaughter charge, was because it wouldn't stand up. So the judge was trying to fix our system of justice.

Was in they gym last night, and there was an advert for shampoo on. One of those 'now with new biofactor protection' types. Now does anyone actually know what these pseudo-scientific buzzwords actually mean? Or is it just 'oh a boffin said it, so it must be good'? I think I'm going to have to start a new shampoo brand.

Looking back at my DND poll results I'm actually quite intrigued by the results.
It seems that all the voters either thought their 'good' stat was Int or Wisdom.
And that there was a rough split between Dex and Wisdom as what you'd choose. The person who picked strength, well an 18 strength in D&D is a 'dead lift' of 600lbs. That's actually quite a feat. Me under one arm, a small motorbike under the other arm, and a couple of sacks of spuds. Now that's an image ;p
No one actually wanted to be really smart. Or was that because most thought they already were fairly smart, and so that 18 would be 'more effective' in a different stat?

Today is also Friday 13th. I actually like Friday the 13th, it's a day of luck and joy. Well actually, it's a day of winding up and teasing people who expect to see jinxes. Malicious and nasty I know, but it's just sooo much fun.

I think to get me to an interview it'd have to be at least 100K, and it's unclear that that's a realistic possibility at the moment. Also, that's a measurement of enjoyment of my current job as well as disinclination to commute or relocate.
