Next plane to...

A thought occured to me at the weekend. By plane, lots of places are like, really close. I mean, coventry airport, first plane, you could be in france in an hour.
Or italy in 3.

Almost to the point where you can just 'day trip'. However, do you know if it's possible to just turn up at an airport? I mean, assuming one just has hand luggage, it should just be a matter of showing up, waving passport, and off you go.

I think I'm going to have to try that.

It should be possible to do at Birmingham though. The big airlines have ticket desks.
