Working sundays
Feb. 8th, 2004 10:59 amWell, I'm in work today.
It's actually rather civilised. AFter all, there's no users breaking things, or clogging up the network, so I'm getting fast downloads.
I'm doing a job, that could have been done any time, taking about 30 minutes, but because of a 'Service Level Agreement' it's got to be done to day.
So I'm here, booking overtime, watching 4gb of data copy across our network (It's a disk image), taking some 20 minutes. For the privilege of my watching this happen, my company is coughing up about 12 quid. Which is then taxed, and then paid to me.
The next one will cost them as similar amount.
Wonder if I can blag putting breakfast and fuel on expenses.
Such a waste of time. Especially as this process only _just_ requires intervention. So I sit here, reading LJ, listening to some Rammstein on rather tinny speakers. I think i might just stop and read for a bit in a minute too.
I would feel guilty, but ... well, I'm here working on sunday, which I dislike.
