This weekend went fairly well. Back to visit the family, and just chill a bit really.
Kinda nice. Took my parents out for a meal, (belated fathers day), and ... well read a lot of Peter F. Hamilton's "Pandoras star".

Also bimbled into the vodafone shop to see what upgrades they do. No real interest in switching provider, but I think a new handset is in order.

Well, the phone selection has diminished down to:
The Sony Ericsson K750i
An Ericsson, which supports Float's mobile agent has memory expansion and 2Megapixel camera.

The Nokia 6680
3G phone. Probably will cost (about £40-100, depending on what contract tweaks I go for) for upgrade. Has video and a 1.3Megapixel camera. Does anyone have experience of 3G content? e.g. is there any point at all, assuming I'm not going to be using video calls? (apart from maybe once or twice for a laff)

And the Motorola RAZR V3.
Like the man said. Lovely hardware, crap software. But the hardware really is rather lovely, that metal casing is just ...

Sigh, decisions decisions.

Well, I've been blagging phones.

After telling the first upgrade deal 'not a chance' (Same tariff, £120 to upgrade) they've come back with:
400 minutes for £25. (e.g. a doubled anytime 200 package, retained from last time I played this blagging game).
A £6 for £12 of data (standard offering)
£150 for the phone Nokia 6680.
But 6 months of free line rental.

Ok, so it hits me a bit up front, but overall, the upgrade costs 6 months interest on £150.

'spect I might have pushed them a little further, but the only deal I found that compared really was with Three, and they've not impressed me overly.

So, if you're upgradeing, always turn down their first offer :)

Ok, so virgin trains are doing power points in their pendolinos (which were made by Alstom incidentally).

We were travelling in one down to London the other day.

And of course, the first thought that sprang to the 3 geeks (pretty much simultanously) as we sat down?

"I wonder what happens if you nick kettles from the hotel and plug several in at once?"

Sadly, we didn't try it on the way back :)
