OK, into the fracture clinic at Cov and Warks today.
The verdict was, that it was still rather swollen, so they couldn't put a hard cast on.
"Keep it elevated above your heart for the next week, come back monday." Argh.

So I've got to go to see my GP (Who seems to still be at the Uni health centre) to get signed off work for another week (or so). Thankfully, [livejournal.com profile] lostdreamer666 is available to assist with that bit.

Oh, and getting stitches removed from a swollen leg is not a pleasant experience. It seems to require lots of prodding and wiggling with a very sharp thing.

I hadn't quite expected ... well it being quite so spectacular. Large purple blotches across the foot, and a 12 inch or so incision (it's not a scar yet, but I expect it will be).

Anyway, I'm back in a 'back' cast, although they have adjusted the angle of the ankle from 45 degrees to 90 degrees. That apparently also makes a big difference. Was more painful that I would have expected though...

Thankfully I'd anticipated a bit of discomfort, and had taken a couple of co-codamol before the visit. Just as well, for my manly dignity, 'n all :)

Oh yeah, and whilst I remember, I'm 26 on Saturday. Celebration is likely to be low key, as a 'mini' cast is good at reminding me of it's existence, and ... well I don't want to risk flexing it, clonking it, or whatever. As such, could use suggestions of 'things to do for a guy with a broken leg'. Failing other plans, it'll be approximately gather in 't living room here, drink a beer or two and order take out food. Not all that exciting I know, but...

The very sharp thing-sensation was probably the stitches themselves :) Most everything they use to remove them are a grabbing tool, not a poking one.

They had to cut the stitches with a scalpley thing. And so had to dig in a bit with that...

Keep it elevated above your heart for a week - I guess you'll be working your way through some books or doing some long long eve training.

I'm around and exempt from school 'til end of the week if you need anything daytime (e.g. lifts somewhere)
When you get to Uni you will find that you have to change GP because you are not a student or staff - the same group of docs runs a surgery just down the road from you though.

Yeah, I've filled in a transfer request when I was there.

Never got 'round to it before, cos it's not something you think about until it becomes relevant, and then it's not a good time to sort :)

Having checked the weekend plans with my better half [livejournal.com profile] mavnn, I can now officially offer CAKE!

Any preferences/dislikes I should be informed of before I choose which one to make for you?

Feel free to express preferences for other things if you'd rather have something different from CAKE! . I'm rather amenable to make just about anything foodwise :)

Any ideas of when things are going to start happening?
