Mobile phone upgradinging
Jan. 27th, 2004 01:54 pmJust been trolling for a phone upgrade.
The Ericsson T610 caught my eye, as being a bit cool. Bluetooth is sweet, and lil' digital cameras are fun.
So off I went, with a hop and a skip, to the Vodaphone shop.
£115 upgrade price (on my current tarriff).
Which is a lot.
Especially if you consider that if I were to just _cancel_ my contract, and sign up there and then, it'd be free.
Of course, then I couldn't keep my number, which would be irritating.
Of course, if I were to just switch to Orange, same deal. And I get to keep the number.
You've got to wonder really, don't you.
So I rang up their customer services to bitch. (well request that number transfer code). Incidentally, for vodaphone the 'let's convince this customer to stay' line is 07002070809.
They went: Errm, yeah. Take your point. Can't do a better price, but can give you a £50 credit, and 6 months half price line rental.
(this is on their Anytime 200 contract).
Thought: "yep, have some o' dat" and so a new phone is winging it's way towards me. Well, as soon as they get stock.
Got to wonder sometimes, what their margins are like...
(incidentally, this means I'll probably have a 5210 going. The (replaceable) case is a bit buggered, but otherwise it's quite serviceable. Any takers for the price of a beer or two?)
