Well, there's a thing.
Going to have to cancel my car service on monday.
I'll need to be in London in the afternoon to see a nice man at EMC. About a 'pre sales techie' job.

Which is nice.

I'm sorry...I just got a completely inappropriate thought whilst reading the word "servicing".

I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean.
I'm innocent you see...

I never intimated you did my dear. I was stunned by the notion of you being innocent is all :P

So surely you can attest to this fact?

If it were a fact then I could. Sadly it is not a fact. So I can't. ;-)

I've known you for more years than I can remember. I remember a couple of stories you told me. "Innocent" wasn't the first expression that sprung to mind when thinking of you.... :-)

I wonder what they mean by pre-sales? I've been to a cross corporate meeting about Networks and Telephony. There were people from LTSB, BT and Datapoint (they manage the relationship with BT for LTSB). The non LTSB were there in pairs, one did the talking and the other say mute until asked for a technical opinion. A double act of account manager and techie, would the techie be a 'pre-sales' person?

Basically, yes.

Technical pre-sales is a support role to the sales process - you get to present the tech to the customer, and fill in any 'blanks' for questions they ask.

So you're telling me that you would like a job that means
endless meetings,
travelling to and from meetings,
touting the company line,
being harrassed because you hadn't met your sales targets,
being told to push product A not B because we need to dump up A sales,
etc, etc, etc.

Forgive me for being negative but where will the joy of the current role you have fit into the future role?

You may be right there. I mean, sales is sales. I don't have a huge problem with that.

The 'edge' here is that I'll have a good toehold in a 'big name' company.

That said the other prospect I have now, is looking for 'implementors', which sounds more promising.
