I can't argue - Fortran is not for the weak-willed. To drain the brain, I'd look at any Perl code for an hour and try to remember what the hell all the implicit variables ($*) mean.

I do think kids should be learning javascript though, if they want to learn to program. I'm sick-and-freaking-sick-and-freaking-sick-and-freaking-TIRED of looking at course catalogs and seeing "Course taught using the Java language" *sigh* When was the last time I wrote something in Java, much less had a user base that didn't mind applets?

Back in those days assembler was modern. I'm sure people were still doing raw machine code back then....

I'd have liked to have been taught to program in assembler, that's a real dying art....

Ahhh, give me good old Turbo Pascal any day. I could even cope with standard Pascal.....
