I have my copy of star wars.
I'm watching it now.
Full rant to follow, but I've just noticed.
The 'boxed set' is PG.
But each of the 'features' is 'U'.

It's the fscking bonus material that's PG.

Got mine yesterday, but seeing as Monday was my "Let's watch the Stormriders Trilogy" day in preparation for this weekend's treat, I haven't got around to putting it on yet. Might do that tonight, thinking about it.
Although I've now got Zu - Warriors... to watch as well. So many choices...

Hmmm...having watched the first 30-40 mins of the gratuitous asskissing Making Of documentary, I can postulate that the bonus disc is PG for one simple reason.

Children, subjected to the documentary unsupervised, may well go on homicidal killing sprees, pyromaniacal frenzies, or may just gouge their eyes out through boredom.

It starts with:
'This is what America was like when Lucas was growing up!' 'Here are some of Lucas' contemporary directors...'
'Look! We'll show you interviews with people who think George Lucas can do no wrong!"
'Lucas bemoans that the critics 'just didn't get' THX, and pulled all his funding.

It could get better later on, I guess, once they get into the actual 'making of', but it begins like one of those Christmas Day specials, where it's not the most exciting thing ever, but you're stuffed to bursting, and you can't be arsed to get up and put on something better.

i couldn't get over the ammount of kissing of arse that was going on though out the whole thing.. it was terrible..

George Lucas is NOT a spectacular director.. IS NOT the next comming of christ and certainly canit work with real actors.

He is how ever and imaginative writer, and directorially works best when teamed up with another director prferably who can work with people, like Steven Spielberg and Jim Henson.

and thats before we even got to the movie..

oh well watched chinese ghost story instead... :):)

Chinese Ghost Story is far superior...plus I've figured the other reason the documentry is PG....would you wanna subject your children to George Lucas' face, unsupervised????

I do seem to recall a televised discussion about whether 'girls in space wore underwear'. Apparantly George Lucas didn't like the visible panty line the the first film, under that flowing loose white robe, and so the response was "Fine, I won't wear them then".

Which might be enought to get a PG cert :)

(I'm going to have to watch it to find out now.)
