Council Tax is now dealt with.
Something less to worry about.
Because of 'latency' in payments, the end result was 'only' £617.47.
Ah, well, thankfully lots of credit cards are happy to do balance tranfers, so I can worry about that over 6 months or so.

And with that, I wash my hands of the matter.

Hurrah for the end of the saga, at least for you!

The question is, if you wash your hands of the matter, who is going to be crucified?

At this point, I'm not especially bothered. At least, not enough to do any crucifying.

You live and learn, but not all the things you learn are positive.

surely the learning itself is positive, and I believe that what you learn hasn't a positive/negative value attached to it, it's just what you have learnt. I agree however that often the way we learn things is pretty tough, and usually not an enjoyable experience...
In any case you can file it in the "completed" box now, which seems pretty positive to me!

Knowledge is neither positive, nor negative. It just is.

Sometimes though, the things we learn are painful things. There's no justice in the world, merely consequences of our choices.

Sometimes, this choice is as simple as believing that someone had changed.
