Cold mornings

I really hate having a quirky boiler. Occasionally, it just turns on it's little 'I'm not playing' light, and stops. So one has to go and poke the reset switch. Not to inconvenient, except first thing in the morning.

(Incidentally, you can fit 'we have a quirky boiler' to the tune of 'three is a magic number')

I really hate having to make the transition from warm and cosy duvet, to cold and dark room. Makes getting up in the morning just that much harder.

Drove to work this morning, with some ice on the roads. Not too bad, up until I got to the Alstom Site.

For those that haven't encountered it, it's a factory site (where a fair chunk is not used) which is probably around 1-2 miles across. Unfortunately, because _no one_ was expecting yesterday's snowfall (incidentally, it's still covering the ground around rugby) no one went a gritting.

Now, with people arriving at work, melting water over the carpark, and it still being fscking cold, it's re-frozen. So we have sheets of ice all over the place. Definitely had a good slip and slide across the car park. Did OK with the car, but thought that I might just stop and sit down for a bit on my walk from the carpark to work. (OK, I slipped and landed on my arse)

Sigh.

There was a nice patch of black ice on the road just before the entrance to my works site in Rugby today. Several people ended up "overshooting" the entrance and having to turn round at the roundabout at the end of the road. Thankfully, I had a driving instructor that drilled into my head concepts like "cadence breaking" so when my frong wheels started to spin freely I rapidly brought the car back under control. Not fun though...
