Muppetry

A whimsical thought crossed my mind. How would one quantify the level of 'muppetry' iin an action, and what unit would you use?

I would have thought that the muppetry scale would be logarithmic, with a 1 being a 'go out to car, realise that keys are on desk', and going up steadily to the 'almost criminally stupid' level at about 10.0

So things like leaving your glasses in your car, when you're going to the cinema might be a 1.5 or so.

But what to call the units? I mean, the traditional one is to name them after someone, but that could be a little mean. Referring to a "1.0 on the muppet scale" or "1.5 muppet points" just doesn't have the right ring either.

Something like "about 15 kelvin" or "25 newtons" or "1.4 meters" would be about right...

Thoughts anyone?

I don't know, I've always been a fan of Gonzo. Then again, you can use gonzos for a wierdo scale I guess.

That was sort of the idea ;p

It's more that a certain someone who shall remain nameless, went to the cinema last night, and managed to not wear his glasses - whilst his eyesight is good, the subtitles might have been a problem.

Of course, that's quite clearly _somewhere_ on the muppet scale, say about 0.8 kermits, since whilst it's Daft (sic) it's an understandably daft thing to do.

Hmm..the Longley scale does have a ring to it - though it's more of an in-joke. If you're going for universal adaptation, stick to Kermits.
You could also have a system for stacking them, say Doofus'es, so leaving your glasses in the car would be one Doofus, marked at 0.8 Kermits on the Muppet scale, getting back to the car to realise you left the car keys with someone still in the cinema would be maybe a 2.4 kermit and count as a Double Doofus - adding another 1 Kermit, and so on, stacking up through many levels, until you reached 100 points and achieve Complete Muppet status.
