sobriqueWell, today hasn't exactly gone to plan. The Plan was that I would be attending the Hawk Conservancy, for an Owl Experience. Somewhere between my booking, and the session though, a mixup occured, and there wasn't one.
All set for disappointment, and perhaps having to rebook.
What happened though is that a gentleman named Paul took pity on me, and took be for a play for an hour, whilst he 'did his rounds' feeding and weighing some birds. Fed a few Owls 'on the wing', and then took a wander over to a couple of the other enclosures, and got to fly a vulture named Jack, and to meet a rather amorous secretary bird - I think it's one up on having a dog hump your leg, but I don't think it would work out between Dave and I. Species gap is a terrible thing, even if he did want to become intimately acquainted with my feet.
Apparent they don't normally do 'vulture experience' days, because insurance is a bit of a nuisance - vultures being a little more 'feisty', and more likely to have a finger.
Anyway, it's been really brilliant, and not least because I'm rebooked to go back again on Monday (time off work not being an issue any more).
