So how does this sound as a provisional route - and as always, additions/suggestions, and most espcially 'that place is closed now' warnings appreciated.

10:00 Earl Of Mercia (breakfast stop - wetherspoons ish sort of place)
12:00 Inspire (Belgian Beers)
13:00 Windmill (Real Ale pub)
14:00 Old Orleans (Cocktail stop)
15:00 Flying Standard (Wetherspoonsy)
16:00 Somewhere in Priory place. Ideally somewhere that's open. Anyone know which of Prague/Dogma still exist/are servicable? (Also a cocktail stop)
17:00 Browns (maybe food here too)
19:00 Whitefriars (end of the line, settle in for the night and drink their fine fine ales)
And then ... splinter groups go off to find decent eateries, if they can be bothered, and return as and when. Recommendations: Habibi, Aqua, China Red, Noodle Bar,

Windmill only does food until 2.30, you might want to hit it before Old Orleans to get food in?

Could do, but my reasoning was that was a bit of a backtrack - and also that OO do serve food too, so it didn't matter that much.

Yeah but Old Orleans serve overpriced crap, whereas the Windmill do pub food at pub prices.

It's hardly far between them.

I liked the old way round! But mostly cos I like cocktails and Old Orleans food more than the Windmill anything. So :p :)

I wasn't even aware that the Windmill did food, I wonder whether it can cope with 10+ people at the same time.

On previous food explorations there they've always run out. Which is irritating. But hey, I'm a picky eater as well.

I shall expect lunch a touch later, I sympathise with you about being a picky eater; I have a limited range of food that I can eat. It has improved since I was younger as my taste buds have changed/become less sensitive but there are still whole regions of the world where I would be searching for something different.

Erm, Squirrel and Firkin between Earl and Inspire?

Are you sure you want to go to the Flyign Standard? ... its atmosphere is bad - and I find the clientele to be generally rude ..

No, but it was a convenient enough 'filler' pub. Timing being what it is.

How enthusastic are you about it? When I was last there, the drinks were unimpressive, so I mostly skipped in favour of ending up somewhere to eat at about one ish. Gues inspire does, but I liked the notion that the 'lunchtimers' would be inspire->windmill.
