New Amber campaign 'season'.
For those who don't follow it, you can probably ignore the rest unless you're particularly interested. My character is called Ramius, and he's a Lord of Chaos. Where we left him at the end of the last campaign, he'd just yoinked the Jewel of Judgement, and executed plan RLF.

And so, I've now had some time to catch my breath.
The last few months, have been... fascinating. My studies are progressing in a most interesting vein.

My job as Ambassador to Amber ... well, I haven't exactly been told I'm fired, but ... I've kind of assumed that if I return there just now, I'll ... well, I daresay they'd welcome me, but it might be rather a sharp edged kind of a welcome.

I've spent the last couple of months dodging through Shadow. My invisible, double teleport and trump worked as well as I had hoped for snatching the Jewel. Not that I set out to do it, you under stand, but ... well, when an opportunity presented itself, it seemed a shame not to take it. After all, it _is_ the rightful property of the Serpent, and was originally stolen by these Amberites so long ago.

Anyhow, first off was into a shadow I know quite well, and thus had a Trump handy. A research and analysis institute, where I spent a while lecturing. Sadly I couldn't stay too long, as ... well, I thought I'd just become ... shall we say 'in demand'.

Skipped a few paths, alternating between sorcerous shadow cutting, and logrus sliding, trying to make myself as hard to follow as possible.

Finally found a spot that would suit. You see, the Jewel presents some rather unique properties, which... well, I'd rather not draw too much attention to myself just yet. I need to take the time for some proper analysis. The jewel 'hardens' shadows around it, in a way that might seem distinctive, and ... it also has a time dilation effect, that if not handled very carefully can be very advantageous right up until you drop dead.

But anyhow, I've found a rather nice little spot. A Shadow relatively closer to the 'Chaos' end of things, but still firm enough that ... it's not going to get suddenly more obvious by my presence and that of the Jewel.

The planet itself seems to have some fairly technologically primitive tech, but a reasonable grasp of shadow sorcery. Not the pure art, you understand, but ... well, a measure of local manipulation.

Nothing to worry about, as they've almost certainly not conceived of the possiblity that other celestials in their solar system are anything more than 'something to make astrological predictions by'.

So this small moon, serves my purposes amicably. The joys of being a Shifter. There's some primitive structures, which looks like they might have been some sorceror showing off in the distant past.

Giving it straight to the King, or Suhuy might be the logical choices, but ... well, their very obviousness concerns me. If one were to want to ... pull something nasty, that would have a very permanent effect on the Courts, what better way.

Returning it to the Serpent also seems that it would make sense, and certainly one that would most strongly resonate. The problem their lies with the fact that no one really knows if that means the universe ends.

Returning it to Amber? Strikes me as similarly unwise.

It seems I've rather acquired a hot potato, and I'm loath to pass it on to .. well, anyone really. But at the same time, suspect that I draw a target upon myself by holding it, and it's only matter of time before I see 'someone' come and try and relieve me of this artifact of creation.

So I've stopped here at time, in this fast time shadow, to do a spot of research. And to decide a little, what the options are for this thing, and specifically whether the universe will end if I return it to the Serpent. And maybe try and leverage some further understanding, and thus advantage whilst I do so.

Now, where was I....

(some time later)

Well, it seems I am to be rudely interrupted. Some rank amateurs have started to try and bridge to my quiet spot, and ... well, lets just say I'm concerned about rude arrivals, and feel it's now time to be leaving this location. So I write in haste, and head now for chaos.

Amber's my favourite RPG -- sounds like you have an awesome game going.

I hope to run a Throne War one-shot next month, for some friends I'm expecting to visit.

Oh, quite recently then?

Yeah, the books are fun. The game... is one of these ones that seems to need the right mix of players to work, and when it does, it's awesome.
