As malatoth has pointed out monsoon seem to be getting a bit crap these days. Either food's not great, or service is poor, or both.

So, plan B = pub at about 1900-1930, grabbing some food en-route (well, for housemates and those so inclined - likely to be a subway, or burger)

Incidentally, I've just realised, that I don't have to go into work on monday. Now, this may sound stupid, but I've always had to 'book' bank holidays, at my previous employer (international company, discretionary national holidays, but with days in lieu).

Now, being a bank holiday and all, it somehow seems entirely reasonable that a bank might ... well be on holiday.

Disturbing thought, but rather nice. Not entirely sure if it comes out of my annual holiday entitlement mind. If not, that'll be even nicer :)

It shouldn't come out of your entitlement as it is public holiday. Unless your contract does something weird, you should get it as a free paid holiday without it coming out of your other days.

bank holidays

check it in your contract- at our place we get "bank holidays plus X additional days holiday", but I know people that get "Y days, including bank holidays". Probably depends on whether you're expected to be working bank holidays on a semi-frequent basis (like retail staff might).

Check with your HR dept if you're not sure.
