Idea: Like many other blokes out there, I dislike shopping.
I'm also not all that good at remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and other 'special occasions', at least not in sufficient time to actually act upon them.

So here's the idea. 'Present buying service'.

It's a business focussed on doing your shopping, and getting your presents organised, bought, gift wrapped and delivered on time. And a reasonable service charge for doing so of course.

For each person you want to send stuff to, you set up a profile, of name, address, 'stuff they like', dates and price ranges. A week or two before the date in question, you're sent an email with the details of the occasion, and a few suggestions as to what you might like to get them, which you can click yes/no on. At which point everything is handled automatically, including giftcard, wrapping etc.

Possible options also include 'simple' buying, a bit like amazon one-click - you get a list of approprate stuff, and get to click 'ok' on the item to buy, and that's that, it'll be there for their occasion.

Pricing model perhaps just on a straight 'per occasion' basis, add on a 'buying, wrapping and shipping' fee, or perhaps an annual fee for up to xyz people.

Is this one someone's already come up with/doing?

I believe this was traditionally known as a "secretary" a la James Bond or even a wife!!!!!
However since I possess the skills and have the time what would you consider to be a fair rate????

I think I could manage that job. Shout if you want a hand at any point. I love all things to do with presents including buy wrapping up nicely etc. I'm sure I heard of a professional service like that but I have no idea when and where.

"Personal shoppers" as I believe they are known .. have been around for years .. there are even agencies for it.

But they cost .. and somehow I don't think Ed's prestigious or rich enough to procure the services they offer .. I could be wrong though .. :P

There was an article in the news about large companies paying off and 'rewarding' their directors and they showed someone buying the classic expensive cars, jewellery, etc.. can't remember the agency name though!
