Well, I've asked the garage to procure me a car for viewing.
They're bringing a Mondeo Ghia X, Estate. 03 reg, 25k on the clock, and in 'platinum' (Which isn't really, it's more a slightly gold colour).
They're quoting me a price, that funnily enough seems to rather nicely intersect with the Parkers price, and a reasonable trade in on my Focus. (again, in line with price, but the milage adjustment and 'outstanding work' drops it somewhat).
I think it's the 2.0 TDCi (Diseasel) so has a useful fuel milage. Power output (base) is a little higher than that of the Focus, but there's not much in it - which means it'll not be quite as zoomy, due to just being a bit bigger and heavier.

They'll sort me out a seven day insurance policy, and a tax disk. (It's a lower emissions category, so only 130 on tax).

Looks promising, but all subject to having 'had a go', and checking it out.

But... But... It's not the fire engine!

The fire engine would have (probably) required an HGV license.
It tempted me greatly, but sadly I can't help but feel it to be an impractical commuter vehicle. (Lack of clamping, parking and speeding fines aside)

Fire Engine? You do know they are MOT exempt, I trust?
And you probably don't pay tax either.

Now, reapeat after me:
Bently, type R.
Volvo, T5.
