It's friday.
I like fridays.
I think on this particular friday, I'll be going to monsoon, for some beer and curry, and then going to whitefriars.
The only real flaw with this particular plan is that the garden in whitefriars fills up too fast. That said, there's plenty of space indoors, and not too warm at the moment.

If I were to suggest that 18:30 were a good time to aim to be curry-ing, would there be interest? (I'll check LJ before I leave, and phone as necessary)

We have a WoW ZG run & as I'm co-GM with Ian we rather have to be there... :/

:P Hey, it's the first time our guild's attempted it... So we're going to screw up miserably... But should be fun to try!

Well, Monsoon followed by Whitefriars is hardly a revolutionary plan.

No, really it's not. However I've found that simple, predictable and requiring minimal effort has a far larger success ratio for regular gatherings. I want an opportunity to socialise. Therefore I plan on doing something that makes this more likely to happen. At a worst case, I shall take a book with me, and either read or say hello to various people who I've met in passing.

If that's not interesting enough for your tastes, then I don't mind, I have a good book to read.

On the other hand, posting a 'I'm not going to try and do this fairly simple and easy plan, because I have better things to do' (or making some excuse) isn't especially useful. This is especially the case when this is the normal state of affairs. I appreciate that not everyone enjoys pubs or otherwise being sociable. That is fair enough.

I'm not especially appreciative of regular responses that essentially imply that socialising with 'us' (or more specifically me) is not worth the bother.

No, we (well I!) would like to come... But we've got about 15+ people relying us to be there...

Bah. Your MMO is shallow and weak. Do some PvP where you stand a chance of actually losing something.

:o) It's good to hear you saying what you mean.

I shall be at the pub this fine evening, but probably not coming for curry. I think all I meant was that, as Organiser of Pubbing, you could use your Power to get people going to some really interesting places, trying new restaurants, etc. Not every week of course, because you're entirely right: that would get complicated, and sometimes a routine is nice. I just meant occasionally. Could do something silly like hire a big boat on Cov canal and get pissed on it. I dunno...

For me, going to an interesting restaurant is a plan in and of itself and really shouldn't be tacked on to a plan to go to the pub (doing so would make me feel we should be rushing the meal to head on to meet others later rather then relax and enjoy ourselves). Doesn't mean I'm opposed to doing such a plan on a friday however, but if we do, we need to consider the fact that we might not get to the pub till very late.

As for the drunken party on a boat in the canal, I'd like to go on a canal boat holiday again at some point and so pissing off one of the companies in Coventry that rents them strikes me as a bad plan ;)

Curry sounds good. 18:30 should be doable, but the frequent lift over I've provided probbably won't be at that time.

Oh, and under no circumstances is: 'I can't go to the pub, I have to stay in and play computer games' a reasonable excuse. Even I'm not that sad.

Not a problem, 'tis what taxis are for :)

Well, I'm happy enough to start checking out restaurants. I'm fairly sure there's a few that are worth a look. Question is, is Friday or Saturday better to do that?

If people wanted to, uhm, make a meal of it, probably Saturday. Or if people just fancied a quickie, then the usual Friday ;o)

We should go to a Turkish restaurant or something so that I can order brains and pretend to be a zombie.

Well, I'm home in time to be interested.

As long as I don't pass out due to lack of sleep in the meantime. :-)

Exercise before pub? Well, it's an idea, but food tends to work quite well I find.

There's two kinds of meal really. The ones that prepare you for the pub, and the ones that are a night out of their own :). Personally I favour stuff like monsoon for the former, but don't mind trying to arrange some of the latter.

It takes equal time to walk to yours as it does to whitefriars.

Might though. We'll see. I may nap soon, depends when I wake up.
