Systems Administrator - Windows

To manage, administer and maintain the UK server farm, the role is extremely customer focused and will require liaison with other ALSTOM offices. Additional skills in project management, documentation & security are also sought.
Key areas of responsible for this role will include:-
Support and administer Windows based Server farm.
Data storage & backup of Windows and UNIX systems.
Installation of Servers and application.
Provide 2nd and 3rd line support to the Distributed computing stream.
Network support including networking aspects of the IT systems
Understand IT security aspects related to clients, servers and stand-alone units including Antivirus software.
Licensing, versioning & implementation of commercial software
2nd line Support for Citrix thin client technology
VMWare support
The successful applicant will be an excellent technical problem solver embracing a wide range of technologies, able to work under pressure and willing to work outside of normal hours at short notice. At least 3 years experience of Windows NT/2000 administration is required, whilst a working knowledge of UNIX operating system would be an advantage.
Candidates should be qualified to degree level and have experience of working in a datacentre environment. In addition applicants should have knowledge of some of the following: TCP/IP, DNS/NIS, whilst some knowledge of Database management would be an advantage.
In addition the successful applicant will possess good oral and written communication skills and will be used to working in a customer facing environment.
