Well, as some of you may be aware, I'm going to be changing job. I've not posted here until now, since ... well my employer really does have a right to hear directly from me, rather than indirectly.
Here is the situation. I have been offered, and have accepted a job offer from a company called Getronics. Based at Westwood business park, working for Barclays. The job is 'storage analyst' which involves a lot of messing around with disks and stuff.
Pay's a bit better, commute's a lot shorter, and at the end of the day, it's an IT company, not an engineering company. Alstom has been pretty good over the last 5 years, and I've no real complaints, but I figure it's about time for a change of scene.
I told my boss today, although I've still got to actually print out my resignation letter and hand it in. He's enquired about me leaving more time for knowledge transfer and handover. I'm not sure there. On one hand I'm keen to move on and switch over. On the other ... well, I know there's stuff I do that not a lot of other people know about. Not that they couldn't do it, just ... well it'd be a lot less painful with a proper handover. I'm not sure how I feel, I would quite like to 'just get a move on', but...
I have also sorted insurance and stuff on my car, and hopefully shall be picking that up after work tonight.
It's likely that I shall be heading down to hampshire with my new car, since my parents have pointed out that I haven't visited in ... well a while :). Although for the other suggestions I saw, I may have to revisit and take up a few of them .
All change as they say.
