Guess what. Another hectic day today.
Finishing off the migration on our notes server.
Found I have 8 outstanding helpdesk faults, that are action on me. I'm getting a bunch of them 'falling through the net' as it were. At the moment, I'm about 4th line of support on them, but ...

Still have to do that other server which I'm halfway through.

And have to sort out a backup of 100Gb when I don't have 100Gb of storage free, and figure out how to verify two directories and cross match the data in them. (I need to check for corrupted files)

And it's only 11am.

It's bad when 'going home early' starts to mean before 6pm. But this is not continuing past august, or even _much_ beyond july. Because if it does, I'm just going to start being awkward and working 'to time'. I don't mind putting a bit extra in when there's urgent things that need doing, but there is a limit.

Payslip just came through. 41 hours of overtime last month. Now that's comedy. However, at time and a quarter, that's also a useful amount of moolah. Upsettingly it also means my 'total deductions' on my payslip this month is clear of a grand :(.

This afternoon, it'll be my first solaris migration. I've also got to shut down an SGI box at some point, in order to yoink the HBA. But that involves playing 'hunt the terminal'. We don't have enough text terminals, you see, because they got thrown out as 'obselete'. So they move around as needed, and ... well they're not needed _often_.

And today's minor victory - I've just noticed I have 4 solaris servers that have been up more than 2 years.
2 at 880 days, an oracle server at 835 and a 'other database' server at 656. (Ok, so that latter is not _quite_ two years, but it's enough for me to be smug)

This game brings back memories.
I had to do something remarkably similar in printed circuit board design at Uni.

And it's a pain. Level 4 7 so far. Go on, you know you want to.

Right, well, I've just got a bit of paper from the warwick camera enforcement unit, saying basically "Busted!". 48 miles an hour in a 40. Temporary restriction, dual carriageway, at 19:30 or so when it was quiet, my speed crept up a bit down the hill. They've since taken down the camera, which is kinda annoying.

However, having read this article about speed restriction signs and this one from the AA it would seem to indicate that there _must_ be speed restriction signs on both sides of the road.

I've sort of reached the conclusion that I might have a get out.
You see, the approach road looks like this:

Now, as I read that article, there _has_ to be a speed restriction sign on both sides of the approach road. Since there wasn't, I'm home free. Or at least, not facing points. Would anyone else care to have a look and check my understanding? I appreciate that for proper legal advice, one needs to seek a proper legal professional, and unless someone says 'naa, that's bollocks' I probably will.
