I hate mondays.
A weekend of hedonistic excess gives so much more pain when one finds that the coffee maker isn't working.

Argh.

Thankfully, thanks to my previous coffee maker destroying exploits, in which I thought I'd killed it, I have a Hot Spare, and so shall soon be having the brew I require. Not that I'm addicted to coffee or anything :)

Yes, that is in our disaster recovery plan*. A 'spare' coffee machine. Can you imagine the scene?

"Right, well everything's gone terribly wrong, and we're rebuilding the computer room from scratch at a new location. Here's a really big stack of backup tapes, and a large number of bits of hardware. Get to it lads."

"But what about the coffee?"

"Sorry, the coffee machine was close to the computer room, and was lost with all hands when $REALLY_BAD_THING happened. Don't worry though, I'm sure you'll have all these mission critical systems up in no time."

"But what about the coffee?"

"Oh don't worry about that, we have suppliers on emergency contracts delivering essential Sun, HP, Cisco and EMC kit, and we'll just start loading and rebuilding the backups, and everything will be fine."

"But what about the coffee?"

etc.

However, we're now running on our hot spare coffee machine, which is a bad situation to be in. I mean, if there were to be a disaster, then we'd be rebuilding our server room without Real Coffee.

I must say that this weekend has been superb. The barcrawl seems to have granted large amounts of trauma to my wallet, Warcraft III: The Frozen throne is good in a 'I have to choose between this and sleep' kinda way.

Unfortunately sleep lost out...

Ended up playing a rather silly fairly normal game of Feng Shui on Sunday afternoon. Eventually, anyway.
The everyday hero, the martial arts cop, and 2 killers (One out for revenge for the death of his wife and mistress, and the other surprisingly caring about his cat) take on some gang or other with rocket launchers, and good ol' American heroism.

(Yes, this was set in Hong Kong).

Tonight is Amber (well, hopefully ;)). We will be without Uther, due to a trip south to a campsite. But it's been a whole extra week of scheming...

Oh, I also seem to have a few (6) GMail invites. Anyone interested? Post an email addy, and I'll send one out. First come first served. Comments are screened for this reason.

Edit: All gone. Incidentally, I notice that it says '0 comments' rather than 'leave a comment' if all comments on your journal are screened.

* Well, actually, it's not. At least, not exactly. I mean, not in an 'officially documented' sense. But definitely in a 'first thing Ed would sort out' kind of sense.

On trolling [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes I spotted this.

It's an 'Evil Email' address provider. Including such wonderful email domains as:

Chlamydia-is-not-a-flower.com
VampiresSuck.com
StealEverything.com

and IStillHateYou.com

Hrm. How to be offensive, every day of the week. Although I think I might wimp out of using one of those on a general webpage signup thingy.

Well, does anyone feel like a slightly entertaining NPC role for SINergy? It'll be an online sort of thing (mostly).

You see, there's a character who's been recognised by a minor cult as the messiah, and ... well I'm in need of some acolytes...

We'll also be having NPCs showing up in session for a similar sort of thing. (If that's of interest, then we're keen to see new people, but if not, don't worry about it, it's not really relevant)

Drop me an email, on my luvverly new gmail of 'Ed.Rolison' (at gmail.com) and I'll send ya a brief. (Nothing too excessive, but if you feel like getting creative that'd be cool too)

I wish I'd thought of this. Following up on the ShedCam, one of my workmates sent it to sharktank. And has a snazzy t-shirt
