Logins

Today is an interesting day.

Last night I migrated a load of login accounts to our 'new way'.
We've done this before.
We had a test account that was set up for them to experiment with.

This morning has been busy. Because things haven't worked.
More specifically, things have worked exactly as set up in the test account. And that's not right.

We also have a nicely redesigned login environment, that we went through a 'proper' process getting user specification, and requirements for 'stuff to work'.

And we have at least one user who fires up his nice new login.
Then proceeds to start up his _old_ login environment (csh, with associated environment files).

Which of course, doesn't really work any more.

Sigh.

Today, following migrations (which caused 3rd degree mayhem), I then proceeded to set up a Windows 2000 Active Directory, with three member servers, a Windows DNS/DHCP server and a whole bundle of clients running MS SQL server and Analysis services.

I feel dirty.

I just want to make it clear that I actually know nothing at all about windows, because I'm just a Unix admin. Despite pain and aggravation of dealing with 'eccentric' engineers and bizarre CAD systems, and downright flakey NAS devices, I'll stick with it any day...
