OK, with regards to Maelstrom being on Easter weekend, can anyone think of a worse possible time that I could have broken my leg?

No, thought not.

Well, guess what.

Gogo Pizza, about 12pm. Went in to get pizza, waited a few minutes.
4 lads came in, (one of which spilt his dope across our table), and after a little bit started getting a bit bolshy.

Well, let's cut to a few minutes later (cos honestly I can remember fuck all) when I'm being picked up off the floor, thanks to a very helpful Seb, with blood all across my face.

Flashy blues outside, so I must have been out for a while.

Just got back from A&E (yes, it _is_ 04:41). My face is bruised.
My leg is broken.

Can I persuade someone to give me a lift to Cov and Warks for 10:15 on Sunday, for a 'proper' cast? (They only do 'morning' appts over the weekend, and there's no way I'm getting up again before noon tomorrow)

I'm afraid I may well be wimping out on the beer festival tomorrow.
Cos oh my god this hurts like hell...

Come hell or high water, I'll be doing my damnedest to go to Maelstrom. Whether I'll be driving or not, remains to be seen.

And if anyone who was there got a good look at the fuckers, then please let me know. I've got to make a statement to the police tomorrow.

(well, later today).

Fuck.

Ouch! That sounds horrible bad luck. I hope you're feeling better when you wake up, and that the other four feel lousy. And get charged.

To hell with Mealstrom if that is what it takes for you to recover properly. You know all about Larping and dodgy knees? I know it isn't combat heavy but If you are in a cast, unless you are in a bath chair all weekend you could be delaying your recovery or making it worse.

Have a serious word with the Doc, listen to what they say. Same goes for Sinergy mate. Get yourself better.

I really hope they catch the bastards that did this to you. If your area has as much CCTV as Nottingham town centre they may be caught on camera.

Get well soon. Or Else!!

So I'm assuming we're decamping to yours tomorrow for breakfast? :P

Dude, under no circumstances do you want to be putting strain on a broken leg. I still limp in cold weather from an injury recieved more than five years ago. Machismo simply isn't worth the recovery period

Well, it was more "No way are these bastards making me miss the event I've been looking forward to all year".

Guess I'll see what the doctor says on Sunday. (Although he'll almost certainly say that going camping on a dodgy leg is a stupid idea)

It's not so much the machismo, as that I _really_ don't want to miss Maelstrom cos some shitbag felt like 'starting'.

If that's the way it plays out, well *shrug*

That really sucks and as if a broken leg isn't bad enough it might mean that you'll miss something you've really been looking forward to. Let's hope that the police catch those bastards and have lots of rest so your leg heals quicker.

make sure you get an airbed and tent heater then. It's important to keep warm when you're dealing with these injuries as your body is too busy repairing itself to regulate temperature properly.
I think you need to get yourself a man-servant for the weekend.

What D & J said. I still have hell from an ankle I unknowingly broke while out running about 6 years ago. Take it easy. And I hope those four tw*ts all die slow painful deaths sometime soon. B*stards.

Bastards.

So, who's going to be the next driver to develop foot problems just before Maelstrom? :-)

Seconded. Read the post before work this morning and didn't get a chance to reply - but did note down relevant memories on a piece of paper.

S'pose it would have been worse had it been femur or knee.

I hope they catch them and that it gets better quickly!

I've had my turn. Way I figure it, Daft Paul is up for problems next. Though possibly your Paul...

Not convinced. I remember being told when I had a bad sprian how tricky ankles were at healing. I know I didn't make a full recovery despite doing everything I was told.

Still, fingers crossed for a full recovery...

If you want leg stories, ask [livejournal.com profile] dennyd, manfop of metal. I think he's still got the lump of fibula or tibia (the question of which one was irrelevant for a few months) that worked its way to the surface a month after he had the accident...

Cripes, Ed. Very not good.

As to Maelstrom, I think it depends quite a lot on how bad the fracture is. If it's a nice clean break, you'll probably be OK to go, but you'll be spending all of it sitting down — there's no way you should be putting weight on a fracture that's only a week old. TBH, I suspect the smart thing is not to go, unfortunately.

Remember I have very decent painkillers if you find that you really need them.

Just catching up from the weekend. Bastards.

Does the pizza place have video cams? Quite a few do.

I tell you... This f*cking city gets worse every f*cking year I spend here.

Leg and thugs...
