Accorting t' wireless this morning, 4 times as many drivers got prison sentences as burglars last year.

Superb eh?

Which the guy on the radio used to get the boot in on David Blunkett. I actually like the guy. He always comes across as a 'good honest bloke' who doesn't take crap, and doesn't doubletalk.

Of course, the subject of speed cameras as sources of revenue came up. I hate the idea. It's bad enough to get a speeding fine and points, but it really sucks to be used as a revenue source.

I _know_ that if you always stick to the speed limit, then you'll never be fined. Then again, how many people _actually_ do? Most do about 10 miles over. Some do the limit. Very few do under. Those who travel _at_ the limit, will occasionally drift over due to terrain effects (yes, that's a grandiose way of saying going down a hill). I'm of the opinion that it's better driving to pay attention to road conditions and other drivers than it is to be watching your speedo.

The other one that came up is the cannabis legislation. In a few days time, cannabis is going to be class C. Not _legal_ just less _illegal_.
You get caught puffing on a joint in a park, Mr. Plod will give you a bollocking and confiscate the evidence. Maybe even will take responsibility and destroy it himself in a series of small fires.
So our police aren't wasting (and yes, I do consider it wasting) 5 hours booking someone who really isn't doing _much_ harm.

Friend of mine has recently joined the police force. I can honestly say, if he books anyone, at any point on his shift, he won't be out again that shift. If he does it _late_ in his shift, he'll be working overtime.

Good eh? You want to know why crime is going up? Well that's why.

Hmm, this was going to just be a short post.

Oh well. such is life. Guess I'd better cut it ;p
